What is a 403(b) account?
I'm sure you’ve heard of a 401k - but do you know what a 403(b) is? A 403(b) account is a retirement account for certain employees of public schools and tax-exempt organizations. Participants in 403(b) accounts often include teachers, school administrators, professors, government employees, nurses, doctors, and librarians.
If you want to start your 403(b) account, you will do so through your employer. You’ll contribute to your 403(b) via payroll deductions. Next, you have to determine which provider you’ll use to manage the funds you are investing in. Make sure to pay close attention to your options when it comes to choosing a provider - just because you have a lot of options, it doesn’t mean they are all good quality choices. To hear more about 403(b)’s and how to make the best decision on investing your money, make sure to tune into this episode!
